Why I Decided to Start Positivity Journalingy
People who haven't known me since childhood are often surprised by the fact I'm an optimist. I don't think I'm a negative person, but for some reason, some people do not perceive the positivity I try to put out into the world.
Then, recently, I was watching Heather Kell unbox the items she was sent for The Happy Planner July Launch, and part of the release were Happy Notes Guided Journals, and this intrigued me. Here is the video if you'd like to check that out for yourself:
Anyway, this video, combined with a week of work that made me question my own optimism, made me decide that I wanted to give this whole positivity journaling thing a chance. I chose the super cute Radiate Positivity journal.
The first step was to decide my mantra for the week. It was originally going to be "don't murder anyone," but I decided that had negative undertones. I want to be positive. I changed it to "respect people's choices." Keeping that in mind while I responded to the prompts sincerely helped me radiate positivity. At the end of the very same page where I chose a nicer way to say that I shouldn't kill anyone, I decided that I wanted to make others feel appreciated. The dark cloud that tried to consume me cleared up.

| First step in being a more positive me. |
On the daily pages, one prompt that always stays the same is the one that asks what I can do today to stay connected to joy. I answer that one as soon as I wake up so I can keep it in mind as I go through the day, and I really believe it helps. I'm starting the day with a plan to be positive, and I believe that helps me effuse positivity.
I want to check in every week and see how it goes. I think I'll stay positive, but I also know nobody can be happy all the time always, so it'll be interesting to see how that goes.
I want to know what you guys think about journaling, and positivity journaling specifically. Do you journal? Do you journal for something specific, be it positivity or something else? Do you use a guided journal, and if not, would you consider using one? Let me know!
